I used to think all that organic crap was for those greenies out there...now I find myself becoming one of them. Now I just want to feel better and stop poisoning myself. In the last year I've been diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes and sleep apnea. A few years ago hypertension. So this is what I get for the last 24 years of eating horrible and sitting on my ass. Not to mention the 228 pounds I lug around with me now. FaceBook is a wonderful tool, I have reconnected with friends of mine and of Scott's from years ago. One of them, Mark, said to me in a message "If you do what you've always done, then you'll have what you always get". I filed that in the back of my mind for a while then started to think about all of that. I may not get colonics done anytime soon but (butt? ha) I am changing things. No more diet coke, no more soda period. I may partake once in a blue moon but for now they are no longer on the shopping list. High Fructose Corn Syrup...anyone see those BS commercials that the HFCS Industry put out? Saying it was the same as sugar...chemically it is not. The corn industry is outta control. It's in everything processed. I am learning a lot lately. Now...Whole Foods will be getting a chunk or change from our household...Publix has Greewise items...Trader Joe's is in Nashville now. I have options. Gosh, did you know anything you put on your skin is like eating it? So a face cream laden in nasty chemicals is like injesting it. Makes you think twice. This is going to be a journey. I already am feeling better somewhat from not drinking the diet drinks. I still have splenda once a day in my latte and am intergrating Truvia as well. Check back ... I think I will have lots more to say on all this...

Ted retired as a manager from Hughes Aircraft Co. and had worked at their El Segundo facility for over 20 years. He is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Emma; son, Brian; daughter, Athena Carlson; grandson, Athan Tam; brother, Dallas Lee McClain; and sisters, Nettie Hinton, Marjorie Stone and Carolyn Atkins. About half way done in the hallway and kitchen. Next month our bathroom and maybe the bedroom. Then what...got to have something else to focus on...garage door is screwed up and need to be replaced...how much are those?
When you tell them at Wendy's no cheese...then it shows on the screen no cheese...why do I end up with cheese? :-| Stupid Wendy's...
Got a inexpensive battery (which is identical to the original) for my Motorola Razr...2 days in and still a full charge...not bad for $7.14.

Slacker I am and a slacker I will be...here is an "update"
Well we did make it to Platteville Colorado. Had a good visit with family. It was HOT! Note to self: don't visit until AC has been turned on! I got elevation sickness in the mile high city, I even puked on Wynkoop and 18th! We left the morning of the tornadoes that went through Greeley and Windsor, they were pretty devastating. Another note to self: don't visit in spring! We went through the most flattest land on earth I tell ya. There really is a lot of nothing out there...oy. Now I have been to 21 states and I even got the magnets to prove it!

Over the next couple of months we are revamping our living room, new tv and furniture! Yes no more cat pee sofa! Scott is even learning how to do crown molding. Little by little this place is shaping up.

Restaurant note: Texas Roadhouse has some tasty vittles! The ribs fall off the bone and melt in your mouth! We tried the one in Cool Springs by the Harley dealer and I must say it was the best ribs yet. Take that Famous Dave's with your tough ribs! HA!

I guess that is for now...I might even blog sooner than 6 weeks. Ah to dream...

We're in North Platte Nebraska right now. There sure is a lot of nothing out there! We did a loooong trek on "scenic" i-80. We'll go through Cheyenne Wyoming tomorrow. I think we are stopping at the ICBM Missile Museum there as well. Thank God for the XM Radio in the rental car. We have been driving, talking, eating, taking pictures of scenery and signs...I missed the Kickapoo State Park sign though! Well...that's it for now. Time to rest...sleep...regurgitate Taco John's...yum.

We are leaving for Colorado tomorrow...and we are taking a longer route on the way there to hit some states we have not seen before. We'll go north...Kentucky, Ohio then go west...Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska, Wyoming...then maybe stop at the ICBM museum...then we drop down in to Colorado. Scott also mentioned the largest ball of twine. I guess we will play that one by ear. But the best part is 5 more state magnets for the fridge!!! Yesss! Priorities! :-)

Spring is beginning to sprung...so to speak! The Bradford Pear trees are starting with their pretty white blooms. Ah my allergies have gotten a little spike as well. That's ok though, 'cause this too will pass. My church's Easter Egg Hunt is this Saturday!
HPC EASTER EGG-STRAVAGANZA! - This Saturday, March 22nd, 1-3pm - For kids of all ages. There will be thousands of eggs, an obstacle course, castle bounce, train ride, face painting, egg decorating and more!!! Tell your friends & family . . . don't miss out on this awesome event!
Ok, so now I told you! Scott and I will be doing the HPC Cappa-Latte Cafe so you gotta go! www.highlandparkchurch.org for directions and info. Check it out if you are looking for a church! I highly recommend it! We drive 52 miles round trip to go there, so how's that for a "testimony". Others drive just as far or even further as well. I guess that is it for now...

zzzzzzzzzzz....huh? ok....worked the Kid's Consignment Sale at church today. Ran all over creation getting a new table and chairs. Ate Chili's again! Oh my... I love that bacon, and hey the order was correct. I have a bone to pick about their booths though...not everyone is thin! Know what I mean?! grrr... zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz....ok I need to sleep! Tomorrow I am 41! Yikes! I really need my rest!

Chili's review and a good Tuesday

sort of a review...maybe a complaint about the attention to detail when dining out or getting take out. I ordered a Jalapeno Smokehouse Bacon Big Mouth Burger..I got some other burger...they brought the correct burger and it looked as if they threw it together in a hurry. What's the problem, they were not swamped with business. It's like no one cares about quality. That's a word I appreciate, "quality". It's lacking in about all industries and walks of life. Enough of that.

Had a great day with R'Lena and Bella. Bella talked and talked, well in baby language that is. She is quite the orator! I see a very talkative little girl emerging from this little baby. Spent the afternoon over their house until Scott came to get me. Had a relaxing time. On the way home we stopped at the new Colonial Town Center near our house. It's really going to be great! Super Target has it's soft opening tomorrow. And the thing that brings me great joy...a PetsMart!!!! We went in to get storage bins for the dog food and make a grooming appointment for my two shih-tzu's. I don't have to hear them cry all the way to Murfreesboro anymore!!! Yessss! Well kudos to PetsMart...when we were picking out the bins one of them was missing the 2 cup scoop it's supposed to come with, so the nice associate gave is 15% off with out us even asking. Now that is "quality" service.

and it rocks! I doubled the recipe to ensure lots of leftovers for the week. It smells so good! I just mushed up some of the beans in it to make it creamy. Oh my gosh! We don't have french bread! I must call for back up! Scott to the rescue!

Well beware of my house for the next few days because as the old rhyme goes...beans beans good for your heart...you fill in the rest! LOL!

A truly mediocre dining experience

For lunch today, my sweetie and I decided to go to Famous Dave's since we have not been there in a while. Let me start off to say they have the best Bread Pudding dessert on this planet. There were a lot of short comings today though. We went about 3pm, which is a prime time to go without crowds, you know in between lunch and dinner. First there was a wait even though it was not crowded. Then when we were brought to our table they gave us a cruddy aisle table where people had to squeeze past us to get down the aisle. We asked for a booth and were moved. I ordered a cup of chili which was pretty good, but why oh why does anyone think that one package of saltines would suffice? I guess I am high maintenance in that area. I ordered a early-bird combo platter (it has less meat that the other version). I got the wrong side which was rectified. The corn muffin was burnt and the corn on the cob smelled like pee. Weird. I would not suggest the garlic mashed potatoes. They were sub par and I truly believe a 5 year old with an Easy Bake oven could make better. I suspect they are boxed or something, they seemed "institutional". So, it will probably be a long time before I eat there again. Unless I have a bread pudding emergency that we can get take out! LOL! As far as ribs go, Chili's and Logan's have better. I do remember about 5 years ago when we first had Famous Dave's, it was very good. I think they are lacking now. Do they need Gordon Ramsey to go crack the whip? Maybe not a bad idea!
